Don’t try to play Dirt Rally while simultaneously trying to hold a conversation. It will not end well. Yesterday I figured I’d play a little rally while visiting with the Finnlet. Turns out you actually need to be paying full attention to the codriver. This is very difficult to do when you’re having a conversation. It would be really awesome if they had voice commands that would allow you to have notes repeated when you miss them.

Tried talking to a friend over the phone while playing DiRT yesterday. Didn’t work AT ALL!

When the co-driver has a lot of information about a corner (3 right opens and tightens over crest don’t cut rocks on exit bla bla bla) and isn’t finished calling everything before you’re into a corner. Annoyed me a lot on a stage in Greece.

The ability to actually adjust notes or hear them again would be perfect.

You can adjust the timing of the notes, but being able to get them repeated would be awesome. I’ve not played with adjusting the timing of the notes yet, but the options are fairly limited. They call the default normal and you can adjust the to very early, early and late IIRC. Since sometimes I have enough time to forget what was said and sometimes the note comes too late I’m assuming normal is probably the best setting.

Is there no subtitle option? I’m hearing impaired (though I hear almost perfectly, aided), so I turn subtitles on by default in almost every game. Helps immensely.

Well the problem is that you have to concentrate on driving, so looking away to read subtitles would almost always lead to a crash.

Yeah I have it on normal as well, but I still feel that some notes are a bit too late and some a bit too early. Since a lot of the stages are run either twice or in different configurations it would’ve been nice to be able to adjust both timing and severity of the note.

I’ve learned that I can’t play DiRT Rally when my wife’s kids are home. Even if they’re not in the same room their regular kid chatter disrupts my game because I can’t hear the co-driver clearly.

I didn’t see anything for subtitles, but there is an option that shows the note in graphical form on the HUD. If you look at the top edge you can see the symbol for left 6.

Kinja'd!!!

The symbols are color coded for severity, so that helps to see them at a glance. The modifiers like “don’t cut” are kind of difficult to pick up on all the time, but I’m sure you’d get used to figuring out the note based on the colors of the symbol if you use them regularly.

Headphones. I almost always use headphones when playing because I do my gaming at nap time or after bed time so I don’t want to keep the Finnlet up. The official Xbone headphones have good sound, are powered by the controller, and are easy to adjust with the included adapter that plugs into the controller. As an added bonus they are relatively cheap.

That would be great. Even an a button press to repeat the last call

There’s a spot in Germany that does that too. I think it’s kind a r4 jump into left 3 don’t cut up

Finland made me switch to early calls, and now I’m used to it
